What I Mean by Partnership

Partnership begins with meeting you where you are.

I bring my experience, close attention, questions, feedback, and responsibility for guiding the training. You come with your own perspective, curiosity, instincts, and willingness to engage.

I don’t expect you simply to adopt my way of working. At times I may challenge you. At times, you may challenge me. We keep an open mind, look closely at what is in front of us, and explore possibilities together.

I hold the structure. You bring your engagement. We do the learning together.

Building Fluency

Havening is a little like a new language. Understanding the structure matters, but it becomes more natural through use.

From Module 1, I encourage you to begin practicing what we are exploring together. You take it into your work, notice what happens, and return with those experiences for our next session.

Over time, the mechanics require less of your attention, leaving you more able to stay with the person in front of you.

Your Experience Becomes Part of the Training

What happens when you use Havening gives us something real to explore together.

We can look at what you noticed, the choices you made, where you felt confident or uncertain, what surprised you, and what other possibilities may have been available.

What you bring, what you discover, and what happens next all become part of the learning.

This is where mentoring becomes especially valuable.

Training and Certification Unfold Together

Certification is not something you are left to begin after the training is finished.

The two happen alongside one another.

Build the Foundation

The first two modules establish the foundation for everything that follows. There is a great deal to take in, and I want you to have time to put those foundations into practice before we add another layer.

Before moving into Module 3, you will complete five case studies using what we have covered so far.

This gives you time to integrate the foundational work through real experience before building on top of it.

Certification Becomes Part of the Learning

Those first five case studies are also the first five of the 20 written case studies required for certification.

As the training continues, you keep applying what we are exploring, reflecting on what happens, and refining your choices with feedback.

You can feel the progress as you go.

Certification becomes woven into the training rather than something you are left to complete afterwards.

From Learning the Techniques to Making Them Your Own

The goal is not simply to remember the protocols.

Over time, I want the mechanics of Havening to require less of your attention so that more of your attention can remain with the person in front of you.

As you gain experience, you begin to trust what you are noticing, make decisions with greater ease, and use the techniques with more flexibility.

My aim is not to make you work the way I do.

It is to help you understand Havening deeply enough to make it your own.

What I Ask of You

I don’t expect you to have everything figured out or to get every session right.

What I ask is that you take an active part in the process.

It’s a willingness to say: “I’m willing to try this, bring back what happened, look closely at my choices, and keep learning.”

That willingness matters more to me than perfection.

The training works best when you keep practicing between modules and return ready to explore what happened.
